At the Netflix Global Headquarters for Animation, located in Burbank, California, four unique digital experiences bring Netflix original characters and animated worlds to life in this newly renovated workspace lobby. Employees and visitors are invited to engage with characters through interactive displays, contribute to a global robotic mural, or watch flip-book style tiles in motion as they rotate to reveal breath-taking Netflix original art.

Flip-Book Wall
The Flip-Book Wall creates an impactful impression through its kinetic tiles of vibrant Netflix original art. Curated, color-rich scenes flip, bringing the architecture to life while showcasing the Netflix world-builders and story-tellers.
This dynamic wall is a 24x7 array of 9"x9" individually controllable picture-flap modules. Content is featured at a macro and micro scale where a single large image can span the full length of the wall or a dynamic array of 168 thematically curated small images work together to create a breathtaking mosaic. Bespoke transitions captivate viewers as the modules change from one image to the next through a variety of unique motion patterns and cadences, acting as a clock that reflects the time of day through curated landscapes and unique environments.
Drawn Together
Drawn Together celebrates the global talent of Netflix Animation, connecting artists and studios from around the world through a playful mural where digital sketches are physically recreated by drawing robots. Netflix employees and artists are invited to digitally contribute to this global, communal mural through a web-based application. The digital sketches are then physically recreated by a delightful pair of drawing robots that float effortlessly over the expansive 21’ canvas as they daintily sketch employees’ creative masterpieces. Drawn Together provides the perfect shared canvas for artists to collaborate and co-create, giving all Netflix employees a place to shine in the global HQ and providing endless entertainment for lobby visitors.
Working with our production partners at VTProDesign, the Drawn Together experience is actively being developed and prototyped. From selecting the perfect ink delivery mechanism to fine-tuning the motion and mechanics of the draw-bots, our teams are iterating to develop an easy to maintain platform that feels as natural as an artists hand.
In My Shoes
Expressive, empathetic Netflix characters engage with visitors through six interactive displays that include Living Portraits and Expression-Driven Mirrors. In the Living Portraits, characters and scenes from Netflix titles animate with gentle, continuous motion. When a visitor approaches a portrait, their presence triggers the scene to fully come to life and animate with entertaining character antics.
In the Expression-Driven Mirrors, characters mimic and react to viewers. From afar, the displays appear to be normal mirrors but as visitors step closer and peer in, characters appear and respond playfully to the visitor’s expressions and actions.
Content Showcase
A glowing digital alcove showcases Netflix content on a direct-view LED display surrounded by dynamically colored, back-lit glass panels. The lighting color is programmatically selected to compliment the displayed content in real-time. This flexible and dynamic display offers a wide range of content programming, keeping the space fresh while providing Netflix with a platform to show off their latest and greatest concepts and titles. This immersive and stunning alcove adds color and vibrancy to the space while also offering the perfect backdrop for an impromptu photo opportunity for visitors.
